PINCH ME ITS MARCH!

I can not believe how quickly March as arrived! It feels like last weekend I was sipping champagne with a 2015 paper crown on my head cheering "Happy New Year". Hopefully 2015 has been good to you and only gets better in the lucky month of March. With Spring just around the bend I am excited to introduce some green and white pieces to my Spring wardrobe and maybe even a bikini as long as I don't snack on too many Girl Scout cookies (did you know thin mints are vegan now?)! Also on the agenda for this month, spruce up the garden and yard to make it party ready and hopefully finding a four leaf clover along the way. Also, don't forget to spring forward March 8th when Daylight Savings starts! Happy March!

I HEART YOU ...AND PIZZA.

We missed one of the most important holidays of the year, National Pizza Day. We are so embarrassed we forgot to give  our favorite food group a celebration. I mean we really LOVE pizza, who doesn't! Coincidentally the holiday of love is this Saturday and what better way to make up for our calenders mistake?  A Valentines Pizza Party.  Single or Coupled, heart shaped pizzas is what cupid's arrows really look like. Cook some a few and invite over your BF, GF or BFFs and fall in love all over again......with the cheese, the doe, the pepperoni, basil,  the olives, the extra cheese and anything else your heart desires.

SAY WHAT?! : AQUARIUS GIRL GIFT GUIDE

We are in the age of the Aquarius! While everyone is a bit wound up over Mercury in retrograde, we can't forget to celebrate some of our favorite people in the zodiac this month.  Lots of the closest girls in my life are Aquarius, but what do they all have in common...nothing! Except for being visionaries with humanitarian purpose, the Aquarius is notorious for being unique and a non-conformist which makes a gift guide to please all nearly impossible. However,  we found a few things made from companies working towards a cause that may just work for the girl like no other. Lets get weird.

1. Beeswax Aromatherapy Candle Tin-  Unlike other candles that are made with paraffin, beewax is 100% natural and actually cleans the air by emitting purifying negative ions. Since our girls are an air sign, lets keep it clean with this eco friendly hand made candle. $5 etsy

2. Cabana Stripe Notebook- No matter her style, every Aquarian needs a notebook to write down her next big game plan in. Sugar Paper, Los Angeles makes our favorite notebooks and with a motto "being more than just luxurious stationary. It is a statement of about one's individual style" how could we go wrong. $18 Sugarpaper

3. Swimmers by Lou Taylor-  For the water bearer , this limited edition Giclee print of swimmers. $50 bigcartel

4. Harvest Moon Flower Bouquet- A mix of orange and pink mini calla lilies, these flowers are shipped direct from an eco-friendly, sustainable farm on a volcano in South America directly to the birthday girl. Say what?! $50 thebouqs

5. Adia Planter -These uniquely shaped planters are crafted in the Nakawa region of Uganda and made exclusively in a fair trade environment . $65 thecitizenry

6. Reformation's Literally Sweatshirt- Because the Aquarius girl is a lot of things but basic isnt one of them. She doesnt like Taylor Swift, she usually avoids Starbucks, and she definitely will not talk to you about last night's Bachelor episode. She also hates the term basic...therefore would love this sweatshirt. Literally. Does that make sense? Reformation is not only known for their non basic clothing, but also their use of recycled fabrics and garments. Upcycle! $118 thereformation

7. Abbot Kinney Wrapping Paper- This wrapping paper is just cool and non predictable  Made from re-purposed butcher paper, originally used to protect a table from paint splatter. $8  wrappedla

HI 2015

Its been a while since hanging out at this party, but I am excited to be back and get this train moving.  After a fabulous and gluttonous  holiday season of seeing friends, catching up with family, eating and drinking a bit too well and a few trips quick trips, I am ready for 2015 to get started!
Since resolutions haven't really stuck for over a week or two in the past, I am switching it up and made a year long list of goals to focus and work toward in 2015.  Other than starting this little ol' blog, lots happened in 2014 that I want to continue , grow and build on.   What are you goals for this year?

1. Get MORE Organized. - Pretty organized overall,  but there are a couple areas that if were even more so right in place,  my productively would sore through the roof. Organizing clients and emails at work being the first. Always trying a new system for the best way for follow up and prioritizing,  I am determined to figure the most efficient way this year.  The other is my kitchen; with never enough counter or shortage space, everything becomes harder while cooking. Adding an island, wall hooks, and some other smart solutions should prevent a lot of headaches. "Work smarter not harder"

2. Relax- Sometime you just need to chill out.  More sleeping in, massages, night time teas, beach days, couch time, and robe life.

3.  Be a tourist- Whether its in here in LA or across the world, seeing and learning new things is essential to stay inspired.   Living  in a great neighborhood and have amazing people around me its easy to stay in the comfort zone, but this year its a must to get out more and knock more things off that  bucket list.

4. Get confident in the kitchen-  Pretty much anxious to cook for anyone, even my boyfriend at times, its time to step it up and just do it. Practice makes perfect, but watching the cooking channel religiously and a few monthly classes should also help!

5. Make money, Save money- Self explanatory

6. Giving back-Philanthropy- I started volunteering more of my free time last year and continue to in the new year, while also learning more on how to make a bigger impact and  inspire others to get involved.

7.  Stay healthy- The holiday season wasn't my shinning moment, but I am back and ready to work on  simple goals ; more greens, less red meat, working out at least 4 x a week, and less coffee.

8.  Just make stuff- Although my 9-5 doesn't ask for much creativity, its something on my off hours I strive on.  More photos, blogging, baking, crafting, gardening, cocktail experimenting, letter writing, and any project in between.

9. Be a student - Next to cooking, there are lot of other skills I would like to work on. My spainish and photoshop skills are on top of that list.

10. Stay focused and current-  An on going mission of focusing on positive, knocking out the negative, being in the present and staying productive. Also being thankful, caring and understanding for others and loving and supportive for friends and family.

This list could go on for days, but just like resolutions, goals should be  somewhat attainable and there are only so many hours/days in 2015! So lets keep on moving forward into the best year yet! Cheers to 2015!

GINGERBREAD FLAMINGOS

Tis the season for gingerbread men, women, houses and flamingos! Thanks to Sur la Table's cookie cutters, these flamingo treats came just in time for my Thanksgiving in Palm Springs this year. Using your favorite gingerbread cookie recipe and adding a bit of red food coloring to the icing, we turned a traditional winter cookie in to a mini vacay delight.
